Ultralow birefringence vacuum cell

Optical access to the ultra-high vacuum environment is an essential requirement for atom manipulation experiments and is typically realised by glass cells. Our transport scheme is based on polarisation additionally requiring additionally a low stress induced birefringence which is not fulfilled by usual cells. Therefore, we developed a dodecagonal (12-sided) glass cell made of SF-57 glass from Schott®.
