The group of Prof. Dr. Artur Widera, previously senior scientist and leader of an independent junior research group at the IAP in Bonn, is starting up in Kaiserslautern. The research will focus on quantum technologies with neutral atoms, combining the tight quantum control of individual atoms developed in Bonn with the fascinating field of ultracold quantum gases. In particular, problems relevant to quantum information processing, solid state simulation, and advanced single atom control will be tackled by controlled immersion of single atoms into a quantum gas of another atomic species.
