Photodetachment spectroscopy of stored H- ions

Abstract
Threshold photodetachment of negative hydrogen ions stored in a Penning trap has been studied. The electron affinity of hydrogen is determined to 6082.8(7) cm−1 in good agreement with previous experiments. The Wigner law has been found to be valid in a region of 400 cm−1 above the threshold.
